The Sun was out so I set off for the ever changing scene at Stratford & Pudding Mill. The NR 150 was out along with 90035, 59102, 66620, 66503 and 66708. Also seen the whacky 'dusty bin' Silverlink NXEA combo to Norwich...not my idea of an acceptable Intercity train thats for sure!

A drab mission to Norfolk for some RHTT action produced a top 20 and 37 combo and an 'Cotswold' 08. Then we headed to Kent to see some Duffs on the Blue Train but the star appearence was 'Bart' 92017 now in Stobart livery. LATEST 97301 at Stratford!

Its not every day a new look Routemaster appears on the Heritage routes but former Bow Depot special RM 1933 on route 15 has been superbly transformed into a livery I believe it carried some years ago so rightfully stars in this small LT collection.

Last year the 1960 Stock Central Line Sandite Tran looked and sounded its age...would it return we wondered...the answer is yes! Having had probably a full overhaul it now also sports a smart Corporate look bringing something new to photograph.

Starts with pics from the Chelmsford MR Exhibition, then onto the usual kind of mixture, although it may include a couple of firsts! Now most of us have heard of blow-up dolls but now we have blow-up trains as well....the new 378s and S Stock. You need a lot of puff though!

James popped up North to video their recent gala and returned with some pics of their diesels including the class 24, a Deltic, three 37s, a DMU and the Wesmak! The PLUS a couple of pics of the BUFFER PUFFER have been added.

The CRAVENS Underground Track Recording Train motor cars date from 1960 so it is not surprising that it is due to be replaced. An opportunity to see it in action at Snaresbrook, Loughton and Theydon Bois on the the Central Line was not to be missed.

We arrived on the sleeper the day before in the gloom but the Sun came out and was by Ft William standards glorious. The trip to Mallaig behind K1 62005 lived up to all expectations during which I somehow managed to capture pics of the impressive famous Glenfinnan Viaduct.

As we move into the RHTT season this collection starts with D1015 at Stratford before going onto Kensington Olympia where the only running Romainian built, whacky looking Grid is putting in regular appearences. LATEST GC 180, those red & silver 86s, 91111 and the Duchess!

On our return from Fort William we stopped over at Glasgow where we pictured class 314, 318 & 334s EMUs unique to Scotland. It was good to see that the classic Carmine & Cream livery was still around but how much longer before they are given the McFirst look?

The star of this collection, which includes pics of the Glasgow Underground, is a boat no less...the only surviving STEAM fired CLYDE PUFFER VIC32. Steam Lighter put on a superb show for us whilst we enjoyed a boat ride on Loch Linnhe.

The Merry-le-bone charter soon set off again from the London terminus for Quainton Road firstly with impressive tractor 37516 in charge then 33207 for the return. In between there was a lot of railway stuff to quickly see. All in all a top 15 quids worth!

Country Bus organised their second local Rally giving me and other oldie London bus fans the opportunity take some pics and to hop on and hop off RTs, RMs RFs and a Titan if it took your fancy! Unfortunately the weather wasn't quite the tickect but there you go...hold on tight now!

London Transport variety includes pics of ENGINEERING TRAINS at UPMINSTER station on our way to thier DEPOT OPEN DAY where a good variety of stock could be seen including some superb UNDERGROUND MODEL TRAINS where the 'Fab Four' put in an appearence!

A top spell of action starting with 33207 and 37516 at Marylebone. 37229 on convoy duty, a France bound 58, a pair of Grids, double 'Double Duffs' ...if you get what I mean... a Ped, EWS 90026 and unique 90036 on Norwich trains.

No I havn't made up the title which is that of a Polish town like our Loughborough only with 'Brushki' works alongside the station. There were certainly some whacky looking Polish and Russian diesels around that would look good when they got out on the main line.

Most pics taken at Pudding Mill Lane which is right opposite the Olympic Stadium. A skip makes a rare departure from LS with the Winton train ecs and Tornado in tow, various sheds, a variety of units whilst Mendip Rails 59005 in their latest livery was pottering about in Bow Olympic.

London's Charing Cross & Cannon Street Stations extend over the Thames bringing trains and boats together. The London Eye provides aerial views of C.C.whilst trains to C.S can be seen from the Tower Hotel. To complete the song title there is a plane or two...buses, Tube, DLR and a teapot !

Our first visit to Mangapps Farm. There was plenty to see with an impressive track layout all from built from scratch. Star loco was 33202, 47793 not being well enough to take part. With the occasional waft of muck spreading adding to the country atmosphere a very different day was enjoyed by all.

Following a NENTA at Stratford we headed to Norwich to enjoy the Summer drags to the seaside with DRS now providing the traction. Although one service got no further than Crown Point. 'Craftsman' later took the 1418 to Grt Yarmouth with us on board where we got some pics in the Sun.

The Sun was out so I set off for Pudding Mill and was pleased to discover DB livereded 59206 in Bow Olympic. Later at Stratford 66505 had 90016 in tow, then the last GEML 'Norwich' skoda 90026 and various sheds. Also INCLUDES 56311 on its FIRST Transfesa working at Gospel Oak!

Well its about time I put these pics on! Our local bus rally enjoyed some sunny spells enabling me to take some fots of a wide selection of buses & coaches, a tree lopper. breakdown lorry and more! So if you fancy a change, get a ticket and join the shambles they used to call a bus queue!

All pics taken over 2 days in and around London. They include 37706 on ecs, Oliver Cromwell, Tornado, our first in service 378, an FCC 321 at Stratford, and some RARE pics of a class 73 at Barbican. Now who said the railway scene these days is dull...no thats just our summer!

We've visited a number of European cities with trams but have never come across one with such a variety of types, colours and advertising liveries before. We spent our last morning trying to capture as many as possible and this is the result including an M & S one already....ding ding ding!

Starts with the 1938 Stock making an unusual weekday run on the Jubilee Line, some DLR pics, the odd RM, the LT Museum, a loaf of bread, a rare conductor sighting, Loughton in the pink, planes, a boat and me ...in other words more of the usual kind of rubbish!

With the Olympics just 3 years away and taking place next to the GEML it was time to get some pics of the stadium at Pudding Mill plus the amazing changes taking place at Stratford. Includes along with the usual traction 'James' , 66955, and 66841 on scrap at Brimsdown.

Not only does this feature the SERCO 37s at Chingford but then moves onto to ECML where a superb morning included 67006 on an ecs, 87002 and 92017 on charters and then the first run of BITTERN with 2 TENDERS! Plenty of the usual East Coast stuff also features.

We arrived at Ridgeway Park Chingford to high drama as Diesel 'Beorn' had failed and a 'Thunderkettle' was on the way to rescue the situation. With some unusual banker assistance things were soon back to normal...although our train did later suffer a minor de-railment!

During our stay in Poznan we were sure to take the daily steamer from there to Wolzstyn and we did! Our first glimpse of the impressive Polish 2-6-2 was the previous evening in the Sun, the following morning being our only grey one of the trip...but we still really enjoyed it.

THE FIRST EVER visit to Stratford of a LMS Pacific 6233, both FIRST SCOT 90s on hire to NXEA , 47832 wih the NR 'Cans' in tow at Stratford, the Hogwarts Express and FIRST livered 73141. Castle hauling Duff through W.Ruislip...LATEST 66844 on scrap.

This collection features the diesels from their recent Mixed Traffic Gala. Stars were the GWR Hydraulics D7017. D832 and D1062 asisted by D1661'North Star' with a 'rat' on a goods run. The 'Teddy Bears' were also out but our bus to Tauton left just as they arrived.

Few locos this year have attracted more attention. This time she was involved in the WSR's Mixed Traffic Gala so instead of forming part of the forthcoming diesel collection she has her own one. Enjoy rare but not pretty 'tender first'action along with some of her more pleasing views.

James popped up to one of his favourite Preserved Railways for their Gala where he was pleased to see the Scotrail 'Original' Intercity 47643, recently returned to traffic 37025, the railways Railbus and plenty more!

For the second part of our weeks visit we took the train to Poznan. The station was a hive of loco hauled activity dominated by our EE favourites plus other now familiar classes. The disappearing classic diesel hauled local service made an appearence and we got a real surprise to round things off!

The Mid Hants Diesel Gala returned after a break of 3 years. Not perhaps so big as before but the presence of SLUG 905, GRID 098. 73s 107 and 201 along their own locos, units made it another enjoyable day ably assisted by the Sun which shone throughout!

James's EARLY BIRD pics are below whilst this features mine. I think you should have a good idea what to expect but in addition to one somewhat unusual pic 12 more have now been ADDED of the days MAIN LINE action that include 70013, 47760, the DRS 37s and Sir Nigel !

James had an early bird ticket into EASTLEIGH where he was able to get some nice sunny pics. He also pictured a DERAILMENT in the yard of some intermodal wagons...which apparently took place on Friday evening...and attempts to put things right.

The star of the weekend was OLIVER CROMWELL's run to and from LS with 47245 having a cameo role. SARAH SIDDONS was out assisted this time by TWO class 20s 20189 and 20227. If thats not enough some London Buses put in an appearence at Theydon Bois...all of which can be found in here!

More off beat pics this time on our recent trip to Poland. These were taken in and around Krakow and as well as trains, feature an RM, pidgeons, cat, caravan, a bra, nun, the Pope and a high viz house! Now thats what I call variety or as they say in Poland zwvqwvzvu!

James popped down to Dorset to enjoy this years diesel feast and returned with some very plasing pics. For the most part I gather the Sun shone and by all acounts the locos performed well. Dad now considering taking up knitting and letting the lad take the pics!

Like many European cities Krakow has an extensive Tram network. During our visits we like to photograph and if possible travel on them. A good variety of well kept blue trams was the theme on what were at times relatively car free streets. Also includes some trams from Katowice.

This K&ESR's Gala was certainly different having both steam & diesels in action. Not only that the line up included 3 Terriers, 2 SE&CR locos, the only running USA Tank, classes 03, 33 and the BTH 'Ford' oldest diesel electric. The Sun came and went saving its best till the end but a good day was had.

We started our visit in the delightful city of Krakow. Poland is unique in having so many British looking EE designed locos on both passenger and freight where doubles are used. Not only that there was a wide variety of other locos and operators alongside PKP on offer...so different to over here!

The Advenza scrap train is perfectly timed for James to see after work we now have pictures of 47237 TWICE and 57006 on it! Also includes 73208 on engineering, the COLAS 47. 37s on the flask and LATEST DBS livered 59206 on a charter.

James popped over to soon to close OOC, to make way for Crossrail, to see what was still around. A few 56s, the odd 58, a Royal 47 and Riviera's 47847 can all be seen languishing there but not for much longer thats for sure!

Typical...you wait ages for a bus then 200 come along at once. An open top RM took me from Cobham to Wisely too late though to see classic vintage buses perfoming hand-brake turns, two wheel cornering and off-roading...but they had been nicely lined up by then for some pics!

Starts with a COLAS 47 on steel and a few pics James took at the MNR Diesel Gala. These are followed by some at the Ally Pally Model Railway Exhibitiion including a SR DOUBLE DECKER, the odd bus and your guess is as good as mine as to what else!

The big engines like Lord Nelson and Bittern played their part but the real stars for many of the MID HANTS STEAM GALA were Beattie Well Tank 30585 from 1874 and Metropolitan No1 from 1898. All locos getting up steam are pictured but those old survivors from Victorain times feature most.

Oliver Cromwell tackled the climb out of the harbour, presumably for the last time again? It was a shame that the weather did not shine but at least we were not rained on. Then off to see champions elect DAFC draw 0-0 with second place Staines in front of a bumper 2019 crowd at the Crabble.

James popped up to Peterborough to record some movie action of the locos out to play for the day and also managed to return with a few still pics. I think most of the various locos featured at the event were included so we have put together this small collection...Dad says ta very much James.

Well that is hopefully what you may find when you take a look! Mostly old scanned pics from the 90s, at North Weald, some long gone E.London bus types and liveries and a couple of Bristols that found their way to New York! All except eight at the end, which were transfered in, should be new.

Ex-Stratford 'Duffs' in 47580 and 47596 had it all to themselves on the Mid Norfolk Railway, although 47584 also seemed to be taking part! The Sun appeared only briefly but that did not stop us enjoying the day on this quite new but fast growing railway. Includes NEW pic of 47732 at Chingford!

Arrived Barnes to see first the 'Tug' followed soon by 35028 and 34067. Then off to Clapham for ex Royal Duff 47787 with the ecs and Tangmere, Norbury for the returning VSOE. Then to W.Brompton for Tangmere and the 47 again and lastly a W&SR skip on a stock move....all this and the Sun shone!

Splendid looking DRS Tractor 37423 seems to have struck up a long tern relationship with the Saloon Caroline so the visit of the pair to East London star in this collection. Thats not all as they are assisted by a variety of freight including a first glimpse of DBS livered 59206 down a Bow Olympic.

Previously Tube and snow have featured grey skies but this one has the Sun shining! Returned first to Theydon Bois before heading south to Woodford. Then onto the loop stopping off first at Roding Valley before going a further stop to one of lines most attractive stations Chigwell.

Tornado's first main line run was the previous weekend but this was the big one...from Darlington down the ECML to Kings Cross. We went first to Sandy, then the 'Cross' and finally Bowes Park for the ecs. I have never seen so many people out for a train... 60163 certainly brought a smile to many!

Made brief visits to Stratford and Pudding Mill over two days to capture some pictures of a familiar but very Wintry looking landscape. When was the last time the London end looked more like Lapland than the Country one? A variety of units, 90s and freight make up the action.

The chance to take pics of the Docklands in the snow was too good to miss so I changed my usual route into town and stopped off at Poplar briefly. Not only did I one of the new sets come in but it conveniently stopped next to an old one for comparison...with deep snow for E. London aplenty!

I headed this time to Theydon Bois for some different views of the Central Line when snowing whilst James made good use of an early finish to work and a dental appointment with pics from S.Woodford and Snaresbrook...it was certainly snowieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

What better way for the New Year to get going than classic heritage traction! 86628 and 86638 first then followed by a near original class 37, split headcode 37087 on the IM71 intermodal from Tilbury to Daventry. Then 4VEP assisted by 73109 and 37259 on the Serco. LATEST FCC.377 move.

A small collection of pics mostly taken on our visit to St. Albans for the Chilterm MRC exhibition. There were certainly some superb railways there which made the effort on a chilly Saturday very worthwhile. Hopefully more pics will follow...but goodness knows what!

I've lived at the Eastern end of the Central Line for almost 30 years but my trips on the Hainault Branch have been few so I decided to take a closer look. The stations vary from the traditional Wanstead, the unusual Redbridge, the superb Gants Hill and those which inherit their looks from steam days!

A second batch of pics from our visit to Germany, Austria and Switzerland last March...more info when I've taken a look! Ah yes a train or two, trams, some boots, Cafe Hell, a wheelie bin, a sparrow and us are just some of the oddities that have found their way in! What better way to start the New Year!

40 years after steam ended on BR I saw 3 on the main line...60019, 30777 and 35028...in little over an hour! Then I had a run behind Sir Lamiel before seeing D1015 on a charter to Norwich and to round off a superb month for Heritage traction that old favourite the Hastings Unit out again!

In addition to getting cold despite the Sun, a good selection of NXEA action inlcluding blue, silver 90s and 90024, not to mention the odd freight and the 57s on the RHTT. Choosing to warm up I returned a little earlier than planned followed by DRS tractors heading to Ilford...doh!

Well in fact three Brushes, all Cotswold 47828, 47810 and 47818! The silver ones brought a charter into the Cross whilst 'Emily' was summoned for the ECS move. Now when did all these three locos last appear at the 'Cross'?. Plus a welcomed surprise 'guest appearence' by 37261 at Ally Pally.

With the Sun shinning the opportunity to see the sole surviving silver 1962 Tube stock Sandite train in action again could not be missed. It certainly makes a racket as it goes past compared to the new trains so who knows how long it will last. Also includes CRAVENS Track Recording Unit.

Looks at various aspects of London Underground with particular emphasis on the 100 yr old Roundel. There is a 'chance for a glance' at many of the Roundels I have previously featured, some NEW ones PLUS that amazing assortment at Marble Arch. Roundel madness stikes again!

Well there I was up town Xmas shopping with camera, then later waiting for James to arrive so I had to amuse myself somehow! I know its a poor excuse but I have thrown in a few RMs, Piccadilly Circus and the 'fish net' decorations that adorn Regent Street.

You can use the Tube many times but unless you look you do not always see! Quite a few staions have a theme but it was not until I started my manic quest of spotting different roundels did I really notice the colours and designs that can be seen at Marble Arch and other stations.

Not just featuring London Underground's famous Roundel but also to give some idea as to what the 'Tube' is like, the variety and some examples of the superb restoration of stations back to their original design. Mind you I was cerainly not expexting to see one 'festive' character!

A further look at the stations of the first and most historic Underground system on the planet. I have travelled on it on numerous occasions but up to now have pictured mostly trains but there is much more to it. Included is the LARGEST ROUNDEL...bet you can't wait to take a look!

The first LONDON UNDERGROUND ROUNDEL that is although today's famous one appeared later. Far more than just a transport system its deep tunnel, above ground, old, new with lots of character...a good excuse for me to go out, look around and picture some of those roundels on the way!

The 'Darth Vader' class 460 Gatwick Express Units are arguably the most distinctive looking of the modern units so when Sponsor Emirates Airlines gives them a new look it was worth making an effort to pop out on a sunny Autumn day to picture them.

Compared to the Continent trams are still a relative rarity over here so with Transport for London taking over the running of Tramslink and giving the trams a new look its time we returned to S.London to picture them again. Just a few pics to start but hopefully more to follow soon.

Time to see some steamers in action so popped down to the famous Sussex railway for their Autumn Steam Gala. Guest locos S & D 53809 and Prairie 5199 were in action along with the Bluebells SE&CR No 65 from 1896, the SR 'U Class' 1638 class and the more recent 4MT 80151.

In an effort to visit some railways we had not previously been to we went to the DFR for their diesel gala and had a very pleasant day...once the fog had cleared! A splendid looking E6001 and 27066 were the highlights not to mention somewhat faded looking old EWS favourite 31466.

At Rowsley the northern end of Peak Rail not only will you find the Heritage Shunters Trust but nearby the DERBYSHIRE DALES NARROW GUAGE RAILWAY. Here are a few pics that feature these retired industral locos. Not bad eh...3 railways in one!

Well I had to call it something like that as GRONKs often get shunted into the sidings and never seen! Thanks to the HERITAGE SHUNTERS TRUST being located at Peak Rail we were able to see 4 new loco classes an 01, 02, 05 and 06 all of which and others can be seen in here.

I have combined pics from our journeys to the Peak Rail and Dean Forest Diesel Galas into one collection. On the way to Matlock via Derby James photgraphed a variety of locos including a smokey grid whilst when heading to Lydney we stopped at Gloucester where 33202 and 57006 were parked.

This collection features the main line locos we saw on our visit. They include 31270, 47635 which has just moved up to the Dales and a heritage loco with real pedigree D8 that certainly looked the part in BR Green. With the Sun out we soaked up the action... a special featuring gronks will follow soon.

Well yes the weather was damp and gloomy but the TRAINS certainly made up for that! HIGHLIGHT was the first appearence of a London Overground 378, then 47818 with 20901 and 20905 in tow and later on 37423 with Caroline ...not to mention 66412 and lots of other freight...all in little over 2 hours!

Having just returned from a family holiday it was nice to get out on a rare glorious Summer Sunday to enjoy a superbly repainted Sarah Siddons, assited by green livered 20189 and the immaculate 1938 Stock venturing to Amersham and Watford. A few buses were also out including RM1.

With Peds 31105 and 31601...which we had not seen since 2004...taking charge of a Serco in the region we decided to follow them about picturing them at Stratford, Brimsdown and finally Chingford, so you can take your pic of where to see these 50 year old survivors.

A 'Cuban' looking tank engine with bags of character...we knew our visit to the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway was going to be different! The future of the line that once seved the nearby paper mill is far from certain but from our very enjoyable experience no way should this historic railway be lost.

Not many bridges match the variety of traction than the one at South Kenton. Being on the WCML there are freight and express passenger whilst Tube and Overground share track. Met line and Chiltern trains can also be seen! All alongside a very pleasant park and pm Sun right...clouds permitting!

James and Jon took themselves off to Tonbridge to see Dutch Tractor growling away...unfornately it decided that it had a 'headache' and took the day off! Still despite being a gloriously damp Summer's day the ED and class 33 kept things on the move.

Arrived Wroxham in good time thanks to late running! Although the same gauge as the RH&DR the locos are more recent, different but impressive. We managed two runs behind steamers before returning behind a chuggy, claggy diesel hydraulic Bedford. A good if slightly bumpy afternoon!

It was time we headed to Norwich to see the drags to Great Yarmouth. 47818 was the loco involved which was rumoured to be on the way to DRS but as the week went on this looked increasingly unlikely. A lovely day out only marred by having to endure a 'Dusty Bin' home!

The Sth Devon Railway is a short walk from Totnes station. Unfortunately the steamer suffered spring failure and limped in late at 5 MPH but a 'thunderkettle' soon appeared. By now the rain had set in but the scenic ride in some good old coaches was full of smokey rain lashed atmoshere.

With the branch 150 years old a special weekend was put on with 73109 hauling the Green Cig unusually on the 'forest' end. Many staff were turned out in Victorian outfits and how often due you see a driver in a bowler hat. To cap it all return trips were just 20p...now thats what I call a bargain!

The Bodmin & Wenford Railway has a very convenient main line connection at Bodmin Parkway where soon after our arrival the DMU duly arrived. Following a run to Bodmin General including a look at 'The Sapper' we enoyed a return steam hauled trip...all very nice!

After taking the sleeper to Penzance and seeing a classic HST claggy departure we worked our way back to Dawlish to for a rare Devon Deltic before enjoying a days scenic photography. Other 'highlights' included the rather bizarre appearence of Silverlink 150 and a 9 car mixed livery voyager.

llustrates with NEW pics the variety of BLACKPOOL Trams we saw, names, dates, an engineering tram, plus depot and Heritage stock. Railcoaches date from 1937 were given a new look in 1960 when Twin cars were made & added to them whilst Millenium Trams were converted from Balloons.

BLACKPOOL's Trams are mostly pictured in and around the resort's famous attractions but their 11 mile route takes them to Fleetwood in the north where they share the High Street with regular traffic making a very unusual sight...as we did filming them attracting the attention of the local CPOs!

A visit to Blackpool to see their famous trams, some of which date back to the 1930s. was well overdue. So when I suggested a short family break the Mrs, who holidayed there with her parents. happilly agreed. It was ding ding and off we all went 'ballooooooooooooooning' around!

We have escaped from the usual haunts to bring you some scenic pics from Warrington Bank Quay! Stopped off at Preston and Wigan NW where we got the Virgin 57 hauled Log train before returning to Blackpool...for more rides and pics of those classic trams!

Last visited in the 1980s so James cannot recall much! Two superb looking growlers D6737 and 37087. 31108 with some claggy assistance from a couple of 'Rats' and a pair of 'Choppers'! The CLAG OF THE DAY award must go to the Western stretching its pistons for the first time in 5 years.

The Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway is another first for us. We tripped out to the Chilterns to see old favouries like 37116 Sister Dora, Mainline blue 37219 assisted by D5581, a couple of gronks and a bubble. The bonus...those Red Kites swooping around nearby.

We stayed overnight to give us time to picture the railway and have runs on all the locos. 37906 might be the king of clag and racket but D6515, D444 and 47635 put on some fine perfomances. Fittingly our visit ended with a 'top-n-tailed' claggy departure by 47635 and 33012 from Corfe Castle.

Our first visit to this serene railway but the peace was soon shattered by slug 37906 with 50044, D6515 and 47635 performing well. Star gronk 07007 joined them along with immaculate 73107, Metals 20096 and the blue 4VEP. Oh yes there was also a Shed !

James set out to see 73s on departmental duties and came back with not only some pics of these classic SR locos but also of some LT Engineering trains which had taken over the branch to Olympia.

James took himself to W.Ruislip to see the newly repainted WSM 67s, also got some local units and the 'Shanks Shed' on the bins! Other recent pics that have also found their way in include an EWS Barrier coach move at Stratford, a Royal skip at Euston plus a few more that may be of interest!

This will include STEAM, DIESEL and ELECTRIC Heritage Locos out on Charters and Railtours. We start with 40145 on its travels around East Anglia followed by the very rare appearence of an A4 Bittern at Euston as it sets off to explore Southern metals and return to Victoria.

A variety of class 90s have appeared on the Norwich services but the appearence of 90021 in FIRST SCOTRAIL livery is surely the most unlikely. Two visits to sunny Stratford also included a variety of NATEX locos, stock and units that reminded you of the mess that ONE once was.

James recently went on the LONDON EYE. The weather was Sunny and very clear and returned with some views many featuring trains. The Eye conveniently overlooks two of London's main line stations Charing Cross and Waterloo although much more can also be seen.

Looked out and shiver me timbers there was a covering of snow. After a walk over nearby fields to enjoy a real Winter wonderland...in Spring...I headed to my local 'Underground' station to get some rare pics of Tubes trains in the snow. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Popped down to Stratford to see the various versions of stock out to mark the official launch of National Express in East Anglia. We were not disappointed the variety on display was in keeping with ONE in its early years just as things were starting to look uniform as well..,thats progress for you!!!

This closed as London Underground on Dec 22 re-opening in 2010 as London Overground. Hopefully the pics show the Lines unique character, excellant murals at Whitechapel and unsual stations. 1938 stock ran a Special to mark the closure... the result bus replacement for 3 years!

Lineside shots of the silver Tube on the Central Line, Metropolitan, Piccadilly, District and Central Lines along with the Northern at High Barnet and the Cravens TR Unit. Then there are some VERY UNUSUAL shots of 83 Jubilee Line Stock...where you would not expect to see them!

We have taken quite a lot of pics during the Autumn of 2007 featuring the Cravens Track Recording Unit and the Silver 1962 Stock Sandiite train so the 'new' collection will initially feature most of these pics rather than leave them in the Numeric or Special titles.

Some of last years pics in numerics and other titles featuring Tubes, Trams & Docklands have now been moved into this collection. Includes the now closed East London Line, Central, Piccadilly, District, Bakerloo, Waterloo and City lines, the Northern Line's 1938 stock, the DLR and more!

In addition to some pics from the recently re-opened LONDON TRANSPORT MUSEUM we have added some from the Mid Hants Railway which was visited by GBRf 73s on a HRT Oozalum(?) Bird Two Charter on a gloriously sunny day. An added bonus was that the steamer out for the day was BITTERN.

Our first visit to Lincoln to see some specials for the Christmas Fayre. Includes two top former ECML locos, the silver and Royal skips not to mention some freight and various units. Plus some vinyl vandalism on outgoing GNER trains. East Midland Trains shambolic!

Very much a case of the old meets the new. Loved the way the Eurostars glide in right alongside the Champagne Bar and the two superb statues that all who visit will want to see. Good but for real atmosphere more destinations, TGVs or ICEs have to appear...maybe one day they will.

Have we been transplanted to a different planet! A 101, a pair of 47s and multiple 90s on a liners, TWO 87s at Stratford, EPS 37s arriving and on Friday an HST...alas no! All this in little over a week..and I thought 'Tales of the Unexpected' was a TV programme...TOP STUFF!

The first appearence of GRAND CENTRAL's HST at Kings Cross, the last few days of EUROSTARS OUT OF WATERLOO and Network Rail's BATTERY' High Speed Measurement train working into Paddington we have put a some pics featuring...you've guessed it high speed trains...into this collection.

A little late I know but we have at last got round to puting on some pics from our visit. Where else can you see British locos hauling Continental Stock...very different! Includes class 14s. 20s, a class 31 and 33, a newly returned to traffic 37, a 40 a 47 and Romanian 56...now thats some line-up!

ATOMIC HARBOURMASTER, 86101, EPS 37's, a STEAMER, some RHTT action, plus a triple 73 Queen of Scots 73 Birthday Special! Then there is an ice cream van, a grey heron, monkey and last but not least and some of you! Now thats what I call variety...or have I lost the plot somewhere?

This collection features steam engines, a steam crane, the countryside around Ropely. the appearence of a SR Classic in the form of a 'Schools' class plus one or two other kettles that combined to make a nice rural steamy day out.

This was a first visit to the BATTLEFIELD Line Liecestershire to see their DIESEL GALA. They certainly had an IMPRESSIVE line-up of diesels running and on shed. There were two class 31s, two class 33's and 73114 in Large Logo plus a superb looking 'Duff' and 'Tractor.' Well worth the visit.

The visit to the North Norfolk Railway for their steam gala was one of our most enjoyable with two G.E locos the N7 and J15 playing big parts. Add to that '34057'. WD 90775. 9F 92203 and GWR 5643 and what more could you want...a SUPERB day!

A return to the delightful KENT and E.SUSSEX Light Railway at Tenderden was long overdue. With their highly aclaimed Victorian train out making regular trips with SECR's 0-6-0 753 in charge it was certainly going to be a little different from the usual...not to mention the 'lime green' shunter!

No ordinary day mind you with two 37 top-n-tailed Sercos, one of which making a very rare run into Stratford LOW LEVEL no less with two DRS 37 '0s' in charge! Captain Sensible put in two appearences along with a top-n-tailed liner....all in here PLUS more!

An HST on the Bluebell Railway...NO...but a big event to celebrate 125 years since the lines openning. To mark the occasion eleven locos were in steam, 8 of which are pictured here plus the lines only diesel...not only that it was also one of this Summer's most glorious days.

At first glance the VOLKS ELECTRIC RAILWAY at Brighton might appear just another seaside attraction but is in fact the OLDEST electric railway in the WORLD still operating having opened in August 1883! So take a look for yourself at this surprising seaside survivor from the Victorian age.

Popped down to the EAST KENT RAILWAY for their EMU weekend. The Sun put in regular appearences whilst we jumped on and off the 'gronk' hauled slammers. It seems ages now since we saw and travelled on them but at least some units have found a good heritage home.

We have combined two previous specials into one. It includes pics of the proving runs Sarah took in the week prior to a special charter on the Sunday all assisted by 20227. How good the see this loco dating back to the early 1920s return to the main line...lets hope Steam on the Met might do as well.

Yes one photo does go back that far! These recently discovered pics...all but one new...include a day out on the Cumbrian Mountain Pullman and the Deltic Fenman II. Then there is the class 40 I had forgotten about plus some variety from more far off lands including an olde Bristol coach.

The first Saturday saw 6233 assisted by 57601 out of Waterloo whilst just one week later Tangmere worked into Liverpool St and GWR Hall 4965 was at Marylebone. Not to mention a 'Not the Blue Pullman..Blue Pullman' you certainly cannot complain...and its all in here.

Down to the Mid Hants to discover exactly what was going on. Thomas and Diesel were up to some unusual station workings whilst Daisy, Henry and another Big Engine were out on the main line. James and Percy were also spotted and all the action can now be seen in here...chuff..chuff..chuff.

We started our day by getting 47812 and 47815 on a NENTA charter to the west country. Then off to Wandsworth Common for some ED action before the first of many growler sightings. Throw in some 'Big Apple' Gatex's a few units not to mention the sun and a good day out was had by all.

Having never travelled to N.Woolwich I then go twice in one week! The the last day of operation was Dec 9 and we returned to picture it. The line made an interesting comparison with nearby DLR and the new impressive station at City Airport in Tubes, Trams & Docklands 2.

We have re-jigged our UNDERGROUND collections with DEPARTMENTAL Battery loco pics and SPECIALS such as the 1962 SILVER STOCK Sandite Train and the CRAVENS Track Recording Unit all going in this re-titled Sandite Surprise collection. 16 NEW PICS featuring TFL stock going down the DRAIN!

When LOUGHTON to LEYTON joined the TUBE in 1948 it became the oldest part and still retains its Victorian Heritage. Now 150 years old Loughton duly celebrated and we took some pics including recreating one of Buckhurst Hill in 1891! TFL stock returning to the DRAIN now in LT ENGINEERING.

Features typical pictures of London Underground trains, the Docklands Light Railway and trams from Wimbledon, Sheffield and Manchester, Also the ISLAND LINE on the IoW with its 1938 Tube stock. PICS FROM 2005 NUMERIC NOW INCLUDED.

'Kettles', such as A4. B1. the Flying Scotsman, Bodmin, 6201, 6233 34067 plus many more. This collection previously included diesels but these have been briefly moved into 'Foreign Trains' !!!. Last years pics from numerics now added.

We were up by five to get catch the 'Peds' taking the Merrymaker charter to Minehead departing Stratford at 0618! The West Somerset Railway is superb but when their Gala includes Lord Nelson as well as other impressive kettles not to be missed. Was it worth the effort....most certainly YES!

One of the locos at this Autumns Mid-Hants Steam Gala was an Ivatt tank whilst the line is famous for the run between Alton and Medstead known as going over the Alps! A Splendid GWR Hall and 9F added to the attractions whilst there are some shots of the returning A4 Bittern.

James returned to South Wales this time to visit the Barry Island or Vale of Glamorgan Railway. They have recently aquired an ex-CFD 'chopper' and along with a visiting class 20 made for some unusual pics. You can now see for yourself along with a Teddy Bear and DMUs.

or 'avin it LARGE in Sarrf Wales' as James says! Yes we just had to do the Fishguard run so we have put on a 'festive feast of '50' fots' We also met up with 37425...two LARGE LOGO runs in a day...the ONLY diesel hauls you can now ENJOY. We certainly did!

We returned to this pleasant Kent railway to get some more DIESEL ACTION and we were not disappopinted with the locos running and picture opportunities it gave us. Highlights included some TRIPLE GRONKAGE and a splendid Railfreight Class 20 joining up with resident 33s and 73.

Well actually a 3Cig to Lymington to be precise. The opportunity to experience a slam door again through the New Forest to the sea always promised a really enjoyable day out and so it was. The Blue Grey unit was on duty whilst the sun came out...all at a most delightful location.

When did you last see a class 24 alongside a Load Haul 56? Two class 47s, a class 37, class 20 plus an old favourite from the S.E...all pictured in glorious sunshine despite threatening clouds and a few drops of rain on the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway.

3 COLLECTIONS NOW COMBINED INTO ONE including the Arriva Diesel Gala event held on Dec 3rd to mark the so called end of loco haulage in the South Wales Valleys with MORE in ''Video Stills2''. A 'Fishy Day Out' includes 37425 still down there in 2006.

FINAL main line SLAM DOOR 1105 Victoria to Brighton and the last Kent Coast 12 Coach CEP as well as the SWT Slammer...all can be seen in here. You can still experience them on the Lymington Branch though.

We headed up to Norwich in damp grey gloom anticipating a dull day dayout...but the sun appeared by afternoon and the day turned out to be BRILLIANT..one of our very best which you can now see for ourself from the ACORP Festival.

Very mixed weather meant it was difficult to get out to some of the usual photographic spots but clouds of clag, doubled headed 9Fs and Southern Pacific action. along with star loco City of Truro combined to produce a great afternoon's entertainment.

After a fiasco at Chingford we enjoyed a Eurostar to run to Peterborough via the Hertford loop for an overdue return visit. The sun broke through nicely as we arrived but soon lost out to the clouds but 56057 still managed to look superb along with other locos.

The Bluebell Railway is one of Britains top preserved lines. Why not take a SLIDESHOW and follow in our footsteps as we enjoy riding behind GWR Dukedog 9017 and other locos on a day of decidely mixed weather in 'Glorious' Sussex.

A real trip back in time for one of us having regularly visited the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway when young. It was the highlight of my Summer Holiday then and this visit was equally enjoyable with no finer miniature examples of the real thing surely. A SUPERB day!

A Diesel Gala marks our first visit. We enjoyed some 'gronkage' and runs behind locos with a distinct Southern feel including an immaculate class 73. Later we were kindly treated to look inside the shed at Tunbridge where 33063 was being prepared for a return to traffic.

Sunday had the BEST weather for the Gala with plenty of SUN to brighten such locos as Railfreight 31108, Large Logo 37190, 20001, 20227, plus SWT's whacky Bubble Car not to mention 47358 and 47303.

37406 and 37416 on the BUFFER PUFFER around the Lea Valley to such scarce tractor spots as Hertford East, Chingford and Enfield Town. How often will 37s appear down south?

...through some albums revealed a few pics that perhaps we should add. They include the Didcot Rlwy Centre, SVR, Bluebell, Steam on the Met, plus some steam and charter pics. Instead of hiding them in other collections we have bunged them here!

Falling leaves involves a variety of traction so over the last 3 years we have been out picturing these...water cannon, DMUS and old Southern Region 405s etc.

'ONE' pics from day one April 1 until the end of the year including Ipswich Tunnel closure. Locos. uniits, rolling stock. various EWS 90s. Virgin blank plus one of the last 312 runs, Cotswold Rail 47s and new unit liveries.

To mark 10 years of Eurostar services a loco was brought up the Thames on a barge and then placed alongside HMS Belfast. We picture it whilst there & departing. Go to Justin's Train Pics link for its arrival.

Old class 47s near the station, plenty of typical traffic including a double headed class 60 steel train, various units plus some atmospheric night shots. 'J' with the fots.

Class 50's and a Thumper are two of the most unlikely visitors to Stratford E.London but within a space of less than an hour both put in an appearence. More unusual actiion has Cotswold 47s on the Queen of Scots set.

We have combined 3 small Autumn collections into one. Firstly the final Bulleid Units are seen on their way north, then class 31s in action for Wessex Trains and finally GBRf 73s on their travels around London.

Arrived in bright sunshine with a few white fluffy clouds to see the ONE 47s, diverted EWS and Freightliner trains, the regular 67 freight plus a variety of 170s. A pleasant day out...until the rain! PLUS pics from Norwich and Ipswich.

We just made it to this famous British railway photographic spot in time to see some of the last Virgin Cross Country class 47 hauled trains go through on a Summer Saturday. Starts with an HST drag from Exeter though. COMPLETE

EWS at Stratford that is. MANY 37s that have visited the Depot this year including 37402 and 37308 are pictured but the latest additions are 58049 in TSO colours plus a claggy 08.

Many people attend these opportunites to see locos close hand so pictures will probably already be on the web. We have a small collection that includes Bournemouth and Toton in 1998 plus Crewe and Doncaster 2003. A few may be added to this if time permits!

Have made a remarkable contibutuion to transport in the SE but their days are numbered with some going every week. We took a CEP run and saw 930206 & 204. Most pics are 2004 but some go back to 1998...see SLAM DOOR FINALE.

With the class 101s ending 47 years of transporting the British public around this collection puts together our early DMU pics. 'Daisy' 101685 is included plus the Network Rail and the last 'Bubble' in passenger use.

...or at least that is when we think it was! A brief visit to the station resulted in some very unusual sightings. Due to DMU failures these were loco hauled, an HST with a working pantograph and a class 302 EMU in Intercity livery! COMPLETE

A small collection that will feature pics of trains and things but taken in Museums. It starts with some from the Manchester Transport Museum which James visited in 2007 and includes a class 77 that spent more years in Holland than here and a Wickham.

Thought I'd select a few extra pics from 2003 with hopefully a few more to come soon as I am still looking through the albums and trying to make sure we have not already got then in our ''N05... 2003'' collection below. Nope thats it!

LATEST: Long awaited update features some class 37 action around Town (405,406 and 417) DRS tractors (now wearing thin) on the Sercos, a few Duffs out and about as well as 87028 going 'off the beaten track' and onto the Great Eastern Main Line!

James takes his video cam out more often these days so KEEP AN EYE on this collection. See 55019 doing its bit on the SW mainline and also a selection of the final class 73-hauled Gatwick Express.

The only place you can see a 1962 silver Tube running is at the eastern end of the Central Line so I went out to get some pics of this old surviving sandite unit. A few others from Aug-Oct have been added...in case you missed them! LATEST 40145 and 47787 on charter into Kings Cross.

Plenty of heritage traction out and about starting with Tangmere with 37712 doing the ecs, followed by 47501 assisting failed Tractor 37059 on a stoneblower move. Later pics include 70013 at Liverpool St, 47818 on a Norwich and the WSR skips out of Marylebone. !2 pics added 9th Oct.

We are now well into Spring and the DRS 37s on the Sercos are still out there so James not being one to ignore local 'Tractors' went out to see them. This time though it was 37038 and 37059 paired and growling nicely! A pair of 57s, 47832 in STOBART livery and DRS seem to be taking over!

Last additions to this collection include 37401, D5613 looking the part for a 1950s loco and 47853 putting in an appearence on the Mail. Then earlier in the month we saw both 47851 and 37423 on saloon duties...and thats just in this collection!

86101 Hull Trains service and some 73s with NR MLVs intended as de-icers from deepest Kent...where you once got real Winters...and the Natex HST. The green slam door unit, the 87 move, the BUFFER PUFFER, 31s and 37s on Sercos a 60 and a couple of pics you would not expect to see!

90012 Royal Anglian Regiment naming at Liverpool Street. This is followed by 47832 still In Westlink livery but used by DRS on a charter, 50049 at Kings Cross, 57:37 and 67:66 RHTT combos. LATEST National Express 90, SE Serco and some moody stuff from Acton!

37 Serco action, a 37 20 RHTT combo. plus an unusual 47 90 ONE on a Norwich service. Then thers is Silverlink Swansongs I and II including 50049, not to mention 37417 and 37410. 90018 out on hire to 'ONE'. and some views from sunny Vauxhall. The last additions from Stratford include a rare sighting of 87028 and 60083.

Our day chasing the SERCO around S.London was distinctly chilly! 37607 was assisted by 37059, Freightliner's Bardon shed was out and Elmstead Woods has to be one the greenest stations around...even with its own goldfish pond! LATEST DRS 47 charter, PLUS TRIPLE 20s ands 47s.

Already this month we can include a First Gen DMU at the 'Cross', 56301 plus 40145 in its new Large Logo look. LATEST 40 additions include plenty of SERCO action, 47245 and the very unusual sight of VIRGIN 57s on the Queen of Scots. Am I dreaming...is all this actually for real!

The NEW Stratford DLR station has a distinctly different look. a SUPERB 47802 is seen TWICE, along with 47237 and a real gem of a RAIL BLUE class O8 at Bounds Green. LATEST the DRS 47 hauled Grand Central route learner, 33202 now in RAIL BLUE and 37229!

Cannot recall seeing a pair of sheds on a liner then two consecutively plus a class 47 with a saloon. Some evening HERITAGE action is followed by a rare EWS Tractor move, Lord Nelson and a couple of Routemaster sightings! 12 NEW pics ADDED 3rd June following some SERCO chasing.

The Sun was shining at Stratford along with some fluffy clouds and a good varierty of locos icluding 31s, a 67 and the Medite 66. A trip to Ally Pally produced a Victa Westlink 66, 47840 out and about then a visting to Paddington to witness some 'Brush and Kettle' action.

Well its been a few years since we had a decent fall locally so we got out early before the inevitable melt set in to get some unusual pics. Features the Tube at Loughton, plus Great Eastern activity at Stratford and Ingatestone...a chilly collection so get well wrapped up!

The Buffer Puffer, a dash down to Folkestone Harbour to see 34067, with 47839 making its debut on the Blue Pullman on the way. Feb 3 was such a lovely day we just had to to see a WESSEX as they end their days with SWT to add to some pics of a VERY UNUSUAL MOVE through Stratford.

This collection combines a FOGGY DAY OUT featuring a LAST view of matching locos and coaches on the Blue Pullman with YULETIDE ACTION that includes the very rare appearence of class 31s at Chingford. Since all the action took place in December that now becomes its new title.

Includes ELY IN AUTUMN with plenty of class 60 shots, the 20s not to mention the Sunset sky that lasted all day! Look out for the GNER WiFi Power car which we saw on our return to the Cross. LATEST 73107, 45231 at Waterloo and a Silverlink 321 at Fenchurch St.

Sheds on RHTTs are just what you wanted to see at the start of the leaf fall season...so that is what we have got for you! Much better was seeing 47828 on an Anglia, SWT's 73109 on an engineering train plus. LATEST Green Arrow, maroon 33025 and 67s on freights at Stratford.

A Capital Serco, a pair of DRS class 47s and a ONE class 90 on a FREIGHT...that was last week. The LATEST 20 pics include a very claggy class 31 departure from Victoria and to ADD to our earlier pic in Gatex a SUPERB looking 73208 now in RAIL BLUE. 8 NEW PICS ADDED late September.

Various Serco duties, some 73 pics, the B.P. at Chalkwell, NR 150 at Chingford to add to Ascot Specials, and DRS 37s in W.Anglia and 458s before they go and class 57 86 drag. Now 28 NEW pics added since the 15th...with something a little DIFFERENT at the end.

Visited Euston to see 87006 depart on its last northbound traing run then out west to see 37411 returning to London....back on the WCML for top-n-tailed mail and then the return of 56s LATEST pics include that old escapee 33025 with a kettle on Steam Dreams and SERCO 37s on the GEML.

Spring may not have sprung yet but the trains certainly have! Plenty of FREIGHT action around the capital many featuring class 60s as well as old favourite 47145. Recent class 87 appearences on the ECML and the return of a pair of 37s on a regular freight in London area.

Lots of different classes including various 47s and those celebrity 37s on a Serco. Latest additions for the end of Feb and early March feature two rare daytime workings for a 57 6 one a scrap move, a trip back in time as D1648 arrives at the 'Cross' and A CLASS 56 ON A REAL FREIGHT!

37s on Sercos, a returning class 73, NR yellow 73s, some class 60 action Tangmere and a Black 5, FMRs class 33 and 73 with the Q.of Scots at Stratford and plus a rare class 47 passenger working, a 87 Postal, a 73 convoy and a pair of 37'4s...its not dull yet then!

87007 gleeming in Cotswold colours contrasts with NRs 31285. there are plenty of different class 47 pics not to mention 47303 again. Also the very last day of class 86 operation on Anglia and 87007 and 87019 at Stratford.

47841 on a ballast, 47145 with 33103 at Stratford, a rare Flner 86 working plus the Blue VEP and Green CIG at Waterloo. Just ADDED pics of 45321 on its first main line run for almost 37 years. LATEST EWS and DRS 37s on SERCO test trains...PLUS TWO pioneer locos on one day!

We got wind of a very unusual train from Hornsey, the WAGN Stock move was on with 47839 plus other goodies made this somewhat chilly day undoubtedly one on the best we have had recently. Its all here.

37s on a Serco, the COTSWOLD 47s. the N.R.101, 37s at Chingford. 37109 with the Hitachi 312. and 37669 on H.J to T.M. 'FERTIS' 56078, 58046 plus the 50s. Completed with 4 views of 47s on stock moves.

Since the end of June we been fortunate to see a number of 37s on the move, also a GBRf 73 loco convoy and just made it in time for the HITACHI class 310 TEST TRAIN. These joins earlier pics such as 57601 at Stratford and the Peak St.Pancras run.

Views 56078 at Bow plus 47714 and 47818 on ANGLIA services and 47848 on stock moves at Stratford. 37047, 37203 and and 56095 on charters join our earlier pictures of various class 47s in action and the departing class 101s.

A class 92 at Stratford, 58041 and 58043 in GIF livery, a Fragonset 33 at Liverpool St. plus 37197 on Steam Dreams and 47853 on a car train. Various Anglia trains, Cotswold 47s. 86s and 90's, 73s on Postal and 37s on charters.

This year we added to our usual haunts Rugby and Cardiff. the class 306 on one of its days out, the return of class 47s at St.Pancras, the official last Virgin Cross Country loco hauled train and the new EWS depot at Stratford.

The locations maybe a little predictable but there are plenty of new locos to see such as a Royal 47...not on the Royal train...our first and only class 37 on a Freightliner at Stratford. 57601 plus a 'strange' sighting in E.London.

This year we visited such 'hot spots' as Crewe, Doncaster and Didcot as well as the usual London venues. At Stratford we pictured DRS 20 9s...to our knowledge the only time they have appeared there on the flask...then later in the year two Gatex 73s!

Old favourites were starting to go but we saw both 47297 and 47475 on virtually their last runs. Still plenty of 37s around Stratford whilst DRS 20s put in some 'unusual' appearences. Also 33103 on the Barking to Gospel Oak line and 31110 in Green.

Our first year taking photos of the modern British scene with many old locos still around. Stratford E.London was our starting point but we soon began to travel further afield. With virtually no sheds yet it was a memorable time.

Continuing the London Underground Roundel theme was the Epping Railway Circle model railway exhibition at Theydon Bois. Always difficult to come up with pictures that really do justice to model railways but hopefully the clubs Tanglewood Common will give some idea of just how good it was.

A return visit to the Royal Gunpowder Mills at Waltham Abbey for their traction engine and roller weekend. Old, new and all sizes hopefully this captures some of their character belching clouds of smoke and steam...really good stuff! Some miniature trains were also on show.

A short stay at Great Yarmouth by James included a visit to a nearby Model Village which means we can now add a new kind of trains to our site. Very nice it looks too but I do think the ducks are a little out of scale and watchout for the old croc as well!

We popped along to Ridgeway Park home of Chingford and District Model Engineering Club for the first time this Summer to discover the larger locos out including some we had not seen before. Naturally we went round a few times!

...or THE GREAT COCKCROW RAILWAY. We survived monsoonal downpours to take some rides and pics..umbrellas were ESSENTIAL! We were a little surprised that a fully enclosed first class buffet lounge coach was not available in such weather...an enjoyable if slightly damp day out!

Well I know Traction Engines do not run on rails but these splendid machines will I am sure impress many 'kettle' enthusiasts. When we heard the Royal Gunpowder Mill was holding a 'Steam Festival' we just had to go along. We were not disappointed...it was a real treat!

October 10th 2004 a little bit of Railway History was made. The Epping Ongar Railway ran their first public train between Ongar and North Weald on what was once part of London Underground's Central Line. DMU 117 M51342 made a suitably impressive 'claggy' departure almost 10 years on.

The Royal Gunpowder Mill at Waltham Abbey has examples of Narrow Gauge stock from the Woolwich Arsenal and a working railway! Take a look and then enjoy a visit to an interesting NEW attraction.

We enjoyed our visits to Chelmsford, Epping at Theydon and thank those happy to see their layouts featured. Following visits to a number of exhibitions including Alexandra Palace we have now got round to adding 12 NEW pics.

Another collection from around stations, galas or out taking a few bus pics. Different, colourful, amusing..to me that is...I'll snap it, often posters. Trains may be the 'main event' but as I wait or plod around I keep myself entertained on the lookout for other things to pic. Yawn...what do you mean yawn!

Well its difficult to describe exactly what you will find in here but I will have a go. Well I trust that gives you some idea. Oh I almost forgot...the views athongside the Nudist Trampoline Centre that just happenned to be near that branch line. Just like Spring Variety...but a little hotter!

This includes the last of our pics from our visit to the Swanage Railway plus some 'odds and sods' as they say! If I could think of some specific highlights I would mention them here but to be honest if I take another look at them I will probably doze off !!!

There are some steamy things, a sort of train. a bus or two, tube, a couple of other recent pics plus some miniature trains which for the moment I have bunged in here. Some pics from last year have now been moved into this collection so if you did not see them then...now is your chance!

Well you never know what exactly you might find in this collection...there may even be pics of us! I have just rounded up the pics that are down to go in here and a as result around 30 NEW ONES HAVE BEEN ADDED...so I have moved it up the list.

A mixture of narrow gauge, pier & park trains plus the more unuaual. Stations like Charing Cross & Waterloo viewed from the London Eye, a 'Fen Blow and 'Robert' at Stratford. To finnish me at the RH&DR in the early 60s!

The trams that meet the train at the town of Soller for the 5km to the port are tuly remarkable. Trams 1-3 date from 1913 whiilst some trailers were once horse drawn in Palma in 1890! Trams 20-24 are ex 1930s Lisbon first entering service in 1998. A wonderful oldie woldie world of transport!

This 27Km line through Mallorca's Alfabia Mountains opened with steam in 1912, electrics taking over in 1929. The 4 wooden bodied electric motor coaches are still in regular service today and provide a scenic trip back in time making it a top island tourist attraction and our third trip!

This completes our Swiss pics...it includes stations, the odd loco and wagon, or just plain odd plus views taken from various Swiss trains. We end with a couple of funicular railways, the very steep and old Harder in Interlaken and a more modern version in Murren...jooodlelayedeeeeeeeeee!

Having a 1930s kettle take you up to 5500ft is impressive. Add stunning scenery, sunshine and the experience is quite AWESOME! Enjoy the ride, views and some of the MOST UNUSUAL train pics you are EVER LIKELY TO SEE! This has to be one of the great little train journeys of the World!

Took the Bernese Oberland Bahn or BOB to Lauterbrunnen where we joined the Wengernalpbahn for our trip to Wengen. Kleiner Scheidegg then onto Grindelwald...a quite magnificent mountain route that certainly beats the Central Line!

Taking the train from Interlaken Ost the short distance to Wilderswil we soon set off following another service train up the moutain to 1967 mtrs. The sunny weather matched the glorious scenery. One of our best days and first mountain trip on what is a superb little railway.

We start with a few more train pics, then some of the many trams we saw on our visit, views of the Metro, CD stations and the more unusual! For those who are completely 'off their trolley' and like us enjoy trams and trolleybuses the collection below has many more pics.

Our second PORTUGAL collection features some different train pics, stations, the impressively clean Porto Metro, the rather sorry National Rail Museum at Entroncamento, things you are not likely to see over here, a funicular railway and a spot the train picture...no prizes though!

Our first real experience of Continental trains were day trips to Lille, Paris and Bruxellles during which we took a few pics so we thought it was about time we put them on...this collection therefore features both BELGIUM and FRANCE, mostly taken 2001-2.

On the last day we visited the impressive Railway Museum where despite the rain pictured examples of their characteristic and often unusual looking motive power from the past...including a Nohab that did a good steam engine impersonation!

This Hungarian Collection shows you the variety of trains around the city including the Metro. Cog Railway. the narrow gauge railway operated by school children and the funicular that climbs to overlook the Danube.

Characteristic of E. Germany is narrow gauge steam. Lossnitzgrundbahn near Dresden alongside the line to Leipzig at Radebeul Ost. The run to Radeburg includes street running, woods and a lake behind impresssive locos.

Not a railway hotspot admitedly but the largest Baleric Island has rails and trains to run on them! We were certainly surprised though to find ourselves running into a brand new underground station at Palma that included not only a Metro service but also a restored steamer and coach.

First to Sargans and then onto Zurich to get some Swiss standard guage action. The weather went downhill but we still enjoyed an amazing variety of trains during our last few hours at often rain lashed Arth-Goldau. Frequent loco hauled passenger and freight is what we can only dream of back home now!

This features the superb RHATISCHE BAHN which is far more than just a Japanese people mover! With frequent freight along with the usual passenger, a variety of motive power, street running to Arosa plus nearby SBB action there is plenty to see. Add in the scenery and you could not wish for more!

Only a platform lenght into ITALY but Brenner'o' which straddles the border still counts! A real variety of locos on offer with Austrian and German ones mostly coming off and replaced with drab looking Italian motive power! On our return we stopped at...St.Judoch ?..to watch the trains climbing.

After Munich we took a very snowy scenic train ride to Innsbruck for a look at the Austrian scene. On our first day we were greeted by a wintry picture in the Tyrolean Capial before heading off in the direction of Germany this time on the main line for the many heavy freights and IC trains...good stuff!

We have not visited DB land for 3 years so a return visit was well overdue this time to Munich. With plenty of gronk action, 'rabbits' real IC trains and of course freight we were well entertained. Add the Alex, the appearence of locos from Austria, Italy, a little snow and we were very pleased with our stay.

Little seems to have changed at Lille since we were last there 6 or 7 years ago. A combination of the new, old and to be honest the downright shabby. However if you are seeking some loco hauled action you certainly have not got far to travel from these unit obsessed shores!

The last two days of our holiday saw us journey the line towards Italy. First to Kandersteg and then the following day through the tunnel to Brig. Not only did we enjoy some spectacular views apon doing so but were also greeted by the appearence of the GLACIER EXPRESS apon arrival!

We spent a week at Interlaken enyoyng the superb scenery and the amazing mountain trains of the Jungfrau Region. On our trips I captured some local main line activity the first part is featured here. Lots of Swiss variety and despite changeable weather was always enyoyable.

James's new job took him to Ireland for a few days during which he managed to get some train pics. Old GMs with character, British Mk1,2 and 3 coaches, the DART and Dublin trams all feature in this appropriate St.Patricks day addition.

We continue to look at action quite close to Praha but then travel a little further afield to the city of Brno. It was certainly a little chilly but such was the frequency of trains, the'Goggle' activity and amazing variety of liveries that we never had time to get cold...despite the flurries!

Includes the typical scene around PRAHA and trips to relatively nearby railway 'Hotspots'. Loco hauled Passenger trains are everywhere with plenty of serious freight action...a really enjoyable change and SUPERB country to visit if that is what you like! Look out for the CRAZY roofed GRUMPY!

French, American, German, Canadian. Italian and English designs make up most of CP's variety of locos and stock. We spent time around Porto and then headed south to Entroncamento on the line to Lisbon. During our visit also saw a veteran Alco in action and discovered an ex DB loco.

Time for a trip with my other son which took us both to Bergen. Travelled on the famous Flam Railway, the Bergen Funicular plus the NSB...whilst enjoying superb sunny weather and at times classic winter landscapes. Look out for what happenned one snowy day and a surprise discovery we made.

Our journey from Budapest to Nove Zamky in the Slovak Republic took 20 min less than 2 hours where we then enjoyed watching classic diesel and electric classes in action on a gloriously sunny Autumn day.

MAIN LINE trains around Budapest including all the expected loco types plus one we definitely did not expect to see in action! The Metro, trams, a cog railway, funicular, narrow gauge and the amazing musuem feature in other collections

We spent much of our time around Koln where an amazing variety of trains can be seen including Eurosheds. We came across a German class 221 'Warship' and saw the pioneer 103 in action...

Taking train pics in Italy may at some stage have been illegal but unlike over here we were never approached! Very old, modern, unusual and sometimes extremley tatty but always interesting. Milano Central+ Lambrate and Lecco.

This time we visited Leipzig & Dresden area. There was plenty of new Private Operators to see as well as visiting that famous rail enthusiasts hot spot 'Grosskorbetha'. A genuine old DR class 118 in authentic livery was arguably the highlight.

We spent just over 2 days avoiding the showers at Olten, probably the busiest spot we have ever visited, around Zurich and on the Gothard Line as far as Erstfeld. Entertrainment at its very best!

Just 5 hours at Decin produced a variety of electric locos, many SKODA in origin, local railcars, diesels. a classic Czech EMU and a working 'rustbucket' of the year! An enjoyable if brief visit.

Our mission was to picture a class 58 in action as well as other ACTS locos plus the usual Dutch scene. We also glimpsed 1501 an NS Gronk along with a variety of freight.

Look out for one of the more unusual diesels around...apparently used as a snowplough...various SJ electrics, units including Linx, a Nohab, narrow gauge railway and Underground trains.

Our return to the Cologne area produced many new locos and private operators including 'Euro sheds' and an ex DB class 240. If you are keen to try the Continental scene you really cannot go wrong here.

This was our first visit to Germany based at Cologne. We soon found out to our delight that the legendary class 103s were still running and were amazed to see an ex DR 228-633 now WAB 24 on our first day at Aachen. COMPLETE

A few days at Zurich gave us a real taste of Continental train activity at a major station and presented us with something new to picture every time we got an opportunity to do so. With trips to Luzern and a mountain ride to Arosa it was a new experience.

A relatively small collection based on the Algarve in the early 1990s and September 2003. Little appears to have changed but the French class 12s were replaced by the English Electric class 14s plus a brief encounter with a private Alco.

Foreign Trains has pictures from over 10 different countries and illustrates the amazing variety that is still around. We also have 4 from Belarus thanks to a visit by a family friend plus 8 from the USA. LATEST additions include Mallorcan SPANISH trains and RUSSIAN diesels.

An added bonus is that many European cities also have trams to ride and photograph. This mostly features the trams of Innsbruck including the famous Stubaitalbahn to the nearby mountains. Muinich and Zurich. An altogether better way to travel than those wretched manky bendy buses!

A small collection featuring the trams of Basel and Berne with just the one trolley pic from the capital. What a shame we do not share the same Continental enthusiasm for tram systems. Once up and running an altogether more efficient and better way of getting around...in my view at least!

With the Routemaster now virtually gone nothing can compete in London with the trams and trolleys that whisk people around many European cities. Their distinctive street sound, 'ding ding' and at times old appearence has the character we have now lost but can be found in Praha and Brno.

Leipzig has a wide variety including advertising liveries many pictured in glorious sunshine plus the 'elephant' tram and the 'whacky' departmental one complete with wagon! Milan has trams dating from the 1920s...still running!

is our generic title for Continental Trams, Trolleys and Buses. One of the additional pleasures about mainland Europe is that when you leave the station you often have trams to picture. This is our collection which includes the amazing Wuppertal 'hanging' Railway that is over 100 years old!

Well this is the time I trawl through this years pics to see what might get in. You will find Mcshady the class 27, Nora Nice View, Kermit the DVT, the Oinkager, Basil Bond not to mention the Snooty Routie. I enjoyed doing them and hopefully you will looking at them...it is the season to be silly after all!

Well its the time of year when I look through the pics taken over the past 12 months and see if any will transform themselves into Funpics. Look out for the Grinning Grand Central, the 31 and 33 and lost in the bushes, the Tubolino and the Tender Behind!

Some more fun has been had changing how some of our pics look with 32 NEW ones. A 'Snooty 170' , 'Grinning HST, 'Big Mouth Duff and one that is so fearsome looking it should carry a health and safety warning! I enjoyed doing them and hopefully you will also when taking a look.

A small collection of recent bus pics taken on various trips to the big city. The first page is 'run of the mill' as they say but the second are night time fots, some as a result of a worrying urge to take them not only from inside the bus but also with the window steamed up and raining!

As the title suggests this mostly includes recent pics of RMs on routes 9 and 15 plus the very LATEST so called London Bus. However some older bus types that work out of Loughton can also can be seen including an unusual recent addition on new route 55. 8 NEW Pics including RML 2760 on route 15!

Tube to Epping then classic bus to the rally instead of getting lost by car! Well I enjoyed my run in a superbly restored RTW 75 arriving in time for heavy shower! Still the sun shone briefly, I grabbed some pics before returning on T1 as the rain set in once more...a real old style British Summer!

Er yes I was a bit of a bus spotter in my younger days which peaked when RMs replaced Trolley buses around 1960. Now with RTs. RTLs, RTWs and virtually all RMs gone they no longer resemble real London buses but here are a few pics of them including a yellow RM and some tourist buses.

Yes alright ...we know this is meant to be a railway site but like many of you I suspect, we enjoy the old London Buses particularly when they are running round our local area. Not only that but we can jump on and off and have a run on them all for free if you want! Great fun...Ding Ding!

After getting confused lost and decidedly grumpy trying to find the place...we had not been there for about 7 years...we eventually arrived to co-incide with the Sun making a rare appearence. This looks mainly at London buses, others may follow later ...'anymore fares please'.

This starts with the SPECIAL running day on the Thursday that included an RLH, RTWs RTs and unusual RMs including RM1. Then the very last day with pics of the last RMs running along Oxford Street including the final RM journey. Many UNREPEATABLE photos.

...their LAST days. Most photos were taken on the 7th and 9th December capturing the end of REAL Routemaster operation on their one remaining scheduled route between Marble Arch and Streatham. The streets of the capital will not look the same without a traditional 'London' bus.

Dad and I are not really bus anoraks but on Oct 28th, I saw the last day of Routemasters on Route 38. The red RMs have long been iconic of London but chances to see and ride these classic vehicles are going fast. Only Route 159 remains until Dec 9th. Get 'em before they go abroad!
